Compensation claims
Compensation claims are made following an accident which has resulted in the individual being injured. Â Often the cause of the accident is due to negligence such as on behalf of a work employer. Â In situations like this the victim may be able to make a personal injury claim for compensation in order to obtain settlement damages for their injuries, loss of wages and in some severe cases, their future life prospects.
In order to make a claim you need to appoint a legal representative such as a lawyer or solicitor.  The firm that handles your case should be experienced in personal injury compensation law and be regulated accordingly.  In the UK many law firms offer to take your case on a no win no fee basis.  Essentially this means that you don’t pay any legal fees regardless of whether the case is won or lost.  The lawyers obtain their costs from the other party involved in the claim if the case is successful.  Such claims are only taken on by legal practices if they are more than 50% certain that their is sufficient grounds for blame.
Claims are also filed for medical negligence or malpractice. For example, the person may have suffered unnecessarily during an operation or stay in hospital. Â Sometimes the general practitioner may be involved in prescribing the wrong medicine or misdiagnosing the symptoms of a more serious health issue.
In the UK there are a number of well known national law firms that offer legal services for making a claim including:
